Prepare to factor a reservation fee, an administration cost and a processing charge into your purchase of “Landlords”: the debut release from The Estate Agents. These 10 influential pieces provide a profitable insight into the affluent world of the young, dynamic estate agent. Through the medium of tinny, blown out punk rock as blackened as ancient bathroom mold, The Estate Agents let us in on everything we need to know about the biz : from mortgages (“Mortgages”); to rescheduling viewings (“Forget it, I'm in Spain”) ; to the joys of heading up your own branch (“I'm My Own Boss)”.
But don't fear- it’s not all tenancy agreements and insurance contracts ; The Estate Agents know how to loosen their ties and play as hard as they work. Whether they're purchasing sports cars (“Seats of my Ferrari”) or getting mashed to the sounds of Father John Misty under the California sun (“Coachella”), The Estate Agents know how to spend their commission in style.

It's fascinating to see how Shaw's vocal delivery has changed from this record to their proper debut. She plays a multitude of characters, with dialogue and all, and the poetry is much more vulgar here. Steven Moses
The first time I heard this album I thought it was interesting & palatable enough to give it a full listen, but I wasn't hooked. Then all week long I found random rhythms stuck in my head so I'd replay a song, then another song, then listen to the album again.. & now I fucking love this album & I feel like it kind of opened up my interests in some regards. Cheers! phonkadelic
